BlizzCon 2019 Dates Announced, Will Include Overwatch World Cup 2019

BlizzCon 2019 is coming to Anaheim, California November 1-2, and will feature the Overwatch World Cup 2019.

Announced by Blizzard, the show will be held in the Anaheim Convention Center and tickets will go on sale in two waves, on May 4 and 8. BlizzCon 2019 will feature developer panels, esports competitions, and “BlizzCon Pregame Festivities,” described as a fun and casual get-together that runs outside the convention center the day before the show. More information on the show will be revealed in the coming months.

“BlizzCon has served as a home away from home for the Blizzard community, a place where online friends can meet up in real life and new friendships are formed,” said president of Blizzard Entertainment J. Allen Brack. “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the show this year, reconnecting, celebrating, and sharing some of our latest developments.”

Esports highlights for BlizzCon 2019 include the Overwatch World Cup, the Hearthstone Global Finals, the global finals for the StarCraft II World Championship Series, the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Finals, and the inaugural global finals of the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International.

This marks the fourth annual Overwatch World Cup, where teams representing their countries will compete. A new tournament structure will allow the entire tournament to take place within a week of live competition in Anaheim and will be broadcasted worldwide. After preliminary rounds, Group Stage rounds will commence on November 1, and the top six teams will advance to a single-elimination playoff bracket. More info on this process can be found on the official Overwatch League site.

This year’s BlizzCon will feature three separate passes: a general BlizzCon Pass for $229, the BlizzCon Portal Pass for $550, and a pass to the BlizzCon Benefit Dinner to raise money for Children’s Hospital of Orange County for $750. The first wave of ticket sales begins on May 4 at 10 a.m. PT and the second starts May 8 at 7 p.m. PT – tickets can be purchased through AXS. All passes include general admission and come with the choice of a mighty Orc Grunt or bold Human Footman commemorative collectible statue.

The BlizzCon Portal Pass is a separate ticket option that includes access to Darkmoon Faire during a new Night at the Faire event on the eve of BlizzCon, along with the option to be among the first to enter the show on Friday and Saturday, preferred parking, separate registration and security lines and more. The Benefit Dinner pass will receive these perks as well.
